Dearest of family and friends
It is so nice to be able to write you all.
In Pamparomas we still do not have internet, but I am at the coast lands, and
can write you a short note.
God is very good to us, and we had the joy and blessing of having two wonderful
people from Our Lady of the Angel´s parish in Hermiston Oregon, come and visit
us. Randy and Tammy Smith were with us for a week, and we traveled around the
area seeing the different realities of the farm families here. It was a very
special time, and I was blessed by their visit here to our mission.
We were able to listen to the dreams of several villages, and how they are
planning on starting new villages for the young families in new agricultural
areas.
We will be trying to help start several new villages for young families by
bringing water out of the riverbottoms and into new agricultural areas by using
technified irrigation systems. These new villages will implement healthy
farming practices such as producing and using natural fertilizers, insecticides,
and fungicides, as well as a variety of production which will insure good
nutritional products for their families. The new villages will have improved
living conditions for the families.
We had to have mass in a very disorganized church in Pamparomas, as we are in
the middle of painting the Church in preparation for the annual village
religious feast that we celebrate the end of this month.
We have also been busy trying to achieve several development issues related to
helping the villages organize and plan their own future development, as well as
helping the women take steps toward a more just treatment.
Elections are in October here, and we are working hard to communicate to the
population issues that should be considered when they vote. We are hoping to
gradually help the population have the ability to elect the people that will
work for the development of the area in an ever more efficient manner.
This coming Sunday we have a wonderful excursion with the catechists of the
villages and their families. Our valley is having a family day involving 6
parishes. We are going on two busses down the mountain. It is the first time
we are having a special day for the family.
Anyway, I guess I better get going here.
Thank you all for your prayers and support for our mission.
Fr. David
